Today in class, we did an assessment based on our spiritual gifts called the "Spiritual Gifts assessment." After taking this, I received three results that were my three special gifts. All the three related to me and I agreed to all of them being my spiritual gifts. Among the three, the highest one was "D-Distinguishing between truth and error, good and evil; accurately judging character, helping others to see truth." I think this fits me a lot, as I often distinguish what is good and bad, and what is true and false. It happens to be something I care a lot of, since knowing the truth or lie can depend on many people's actions and also my actions on what I believe or do. I am always thinking about people and their thoughts and opinions, and it is always leaves as a big question in my mind. I like to know the inside of people and to know them better, as well as distinguishing what I need to be aware of. However I never thought this as my spiritual gift, but as one of my "weak points." This assessment made me realize how it was not a weak point of mine, but a spiritual gift that I had received and that I should be proud of this.

In today's class, we had to finish our booklet on the jobs that would fit us the most, and what jobs would fit us most. Also, we had to discover more on the jobs that would suit ourselves. By doing this, I felt that choosing and thinking more about my career and what I really want to live for right now would bring me to a good result in the end. I was also surprised by the number of jobs that were available and how they were all categorized into many different groups. I am very curious of what I will take as my career, and if my dream would be the same as the one in 3 years. Also by taking these lessons and reading the many stories of people near my age and people older than me, I learned that climbing the right ladder, the ladder that leads to living for God is much more stabled and reliable than the ladder that leads to what you enjoy.

( I was absent on 11/17/10!)

Today in class, we had to finish taking the quiz on family connection about our personality. After that, we had to finish a booklet called SDS, which helps search and learn more about our interests and career. While doing this, I felt as if I was really processing to my future and my career, whereas before I just had a dream about what I wanted to be. I wonder if all of this would really help me build up to what I really want to do in the future. Also, I was really surprised when the website showed me about my personality. Everything was correct, starting from my personality to what style of study suits me best!

For Thursday's lesson, we learned a deeper lesson about your talents and how it could be related to your career. We had a list of factors of what we thought was most important and least important. We had to order them all from the most to least, and it included of such things like "having power", "Helping others", "Getting a job", " Money"etc. To me, I think the reason we did this activity was to see what we thought as most important, and what we might choose later for our career. By looking at each of our sheet, we may know what we will live for when we grow up. However, I wander if these will change as we grow up.

In class, we learned about talents. Everyone is different and therefore possess different talents. I learned that everyone has talents, that is including myself. I think that your career may depend mostly on what you have the most interest in, and where your talents lay. They might lead to your future career, and help you in finding what you will most likely enjoy and success in the future. I believe that talents can be strengthened and it can play a big role in your life.

Talent

God says we all have talents. Define Talent:

1) To me, talent is something which everyone possess. There are various talents such as in study, art, or communication etc. I think talent is something which stands out in you that is related to yourself, not others. Also I think talent is a factor which people think stands out most in you, and the key word that comes to their mind when thinking of you. However, I do not think talent comes in from what others say or compliment in you, but also what you have confidence in and what you enjoy in.

What do you think are your particular talents?

2) To me, I think I possess talent in writing. This may not be a talent which everyone sees in me, but I enjoy creative writing and it feels like mine when I am doing creative writing. It is my only way to express my feelings or create a background or a scene to the readers so they can imagine it as well. When I write, I cannot stop once started and it makes me feel happy. There is no other better way than creative writing to express myself. I have confidence when writing, and I also enjoy at the same time which fulfills me. I have always thought this as my talent, as I find interest and eager in this particular type of work.

My Career

November 8, 2010

How do you plan on choosing a career?
- I plan on choosing a career by doing something that fulfills me; something that I can enjoy and learn more without getting much stress. I want to choose a career I can continue on for a long time, and something what I can give to others.
Does your gender make a difference?
- Gender may make a difference depending on what job or career you choose, but I don’t really take that in consideration. I think men and women both have equal talents and can both choose what they want to do.
Who will help you choose a career?
- I think I will choose my own career, since I know what is best for me and what I would like to do for the rest of my life. I think God will also help choose the main base for my career, but most of it will be done by me.

Can the Bible offer any help?
- Bible can offer help towards your career, as it provides life lessons and how you can act towards certain things. It will help you in the inner part of yourself and your mind. I think the Bible will support you to become a real person with many other lessons of God.

How to wash your own hair

As kids grow up, they need learn how to wash their hair by themselves. It may be  difficult at first, and you may wonder if you have rinsed your hair properly. After you read the steps to washing your hair, you will feel satisfied and pleased.
Buy a shampoo, or use the shampoo you have. After spraying water around your hair with a shower head. Spray water until you think it is wet both on the inside and outside. After that, turn of the water and squeeze shampoo on your hand. When you have about half of the shampoo covering your palms, quickly spread it on your hair. Then, mover your hand around and spread the shampoo across your whole head, including the inside of your hair. Since the shampoo might not get across your whole head, roll your fingertips around so it would cover your whole hair. After you think you are pretty done, turn on the water and rinse the shampoo off. Just like you spread your shampoo over your head, do the same when washing it off so all the shampoo would get washed off. When everything is completed, turn off the water and squeeze your hair if it is long. By this, you will be able to shake off water before drying it with a towel. When you are finished with drying your hair with a towel, it is your choice if you want to dry your hair with a dryer or not!

“Feel the fear, and do it anyway.”

“Feel the fear, and do it anyway.”
Have you ever had a time where you had to take a risk, even a small risk that may have been nothing to others but hard for you? Everyone has their own fear and a way to get rid of it. To me, I felt fear towards participation. To others, it is a daily thing for them to raise their hand and participate. However to me, it is on of my fears. Fear takes in courage, and it consists of being confident and loud. Even though you may not be loud, most of the people in classes seem to participate, except me. In my parent teacher conferences for the past 5 years, I have heard the same comment over and over for every single class.
“It would be better if Seung Min could participate more during class.”
My parents know this as well, and it was nothing surprising to them, as it had been a fear of mine from first grade. Shyness or having less confidence in myself is the main reason to my fear. I have known this for years and years, and it has always been in my “New Year Goals.” People may tell you, all you need to do is raise your hand if you know the answer. To me, being able to raise my hand first and participate is like jumping down from a high building. The tightness inside me and the fear of getting it wrong, or just talking in front of the class frights me. I have tried to overcome my fears, but as always, fear is something you cannot get rid of easily. When I see people shooting their hand up in the air, expressing their thoughts or contributing ideas to the topic, all I think is ‘I wish I could be like that.’ It may be a fear I may not be able to improve, but it can be something I can get rid of little by little, one at a time.

The Migrant Mother

I feel really sorry for my kids.. I don’t know what I will do now. Everything has fallen inside of me, and I don’t know if I will ever be able to build it back up again. 5 years of working as a migrant. Working 6 hours a day, and earning the money for one bread for each of my kids. Now they don’t even want me to work for them. What will I do...? I remember back in the days when my husband and I would go in the field, pick flowers and eat as much as we like, then lie on the grass and just talk for hours. Now it is just a part of my history, and it is something that cannot happen twice in my life. It was 3 years ago when he disappeared on one cold night in december. I was feeding my kids, and my husband went out to check on the crops that was growing rapidly. He would have normally taken half an hour or so, but even after 2 hours he would not return. I was starting to get worried, so I decided to put my babies in bed and head outside. It took a long time until they stopped crying and started sleeping. Right after that was done, I took out a coat and headed straight towards the field. No one. I could see nor hear anyone but faint crimson marks on the floor. I first thought it was the berries that had smashed to the ground, but when I took a closer look, it was too red and big to be the marks of a berry. It would be a lie if I said I did not think it was blood, as the second thought that came to mind was blood. As I kept looking at that mysterious crimson makings on the ground, I felt my whole body shiver with fear.
‘Lets just go inside and wait for him. He will come back sooner or later!’ I thought to myself, and led myself inside the house.
From then, a few years have passed and he still has not returned. However, the kids and I moved far away from this empty house; a house that no longer felt like a home. We moved into the city, and there we lived inside the basement of the person’s house I was going to work for. I would work for hours and hours, and receive a few pennies. With these pennies, I would mostly spend it on my kids. None of these people were kind wherever I went. They would order me to do things that did not even need cleaning or yet picking (crops), and it would never end. I have moved on and on, and this was a tiring job for the children as they would have to stay in their rooms most of the day. Last week, I was cut from my job. I have no hope, and I do not know what I will do now. Most importantly, I do not know how I will feed my kids.. Everything seems black in front of my eyes, and I feel like I have gone blind. Blind in mind and blind in sight. I’m just lost, and I do not know myself anymore.. I wish I would be able to turn back time, back to where I had my whole family. A family that was happy and full of laughter.

The big bad wolf-perspective

Dear readers, who is thinking of me as the big “bad” wolf,
I wanted to inform you about the accident that occurred in the houses of the three little pigs. It was on saturday evening when I was finished with baking a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies for my dear neighbors, which included the three piglets. I heard from my brother that he had seen 3 piglets building each of their own houses in the village. I thought I would give them some of my cookies, since they were part of my neighbors now. After wrapping the cookies for my 10 neighbors, it was about 7 o’clock. I knew my other neighbors really well such as Ms.squirrel, Mr and Mrs Rabbit, Dr. Lion, etc. I knew it would not matter much to them if I gave their cookies a bit late, since they did not sleep so early. However, I did not know anything about the 3 piglets including their faces. I was really, I mean really really excited about the three pigs that would now become part of my neighbors. With an overwhelmed feeling of happiness and excitement, I headed for the first house that I had never seen before.
‘This might be one of the pig’s houses!’ I thought. It was entirely made of light brown straws, and it looked as if it took a lot of time to construct it. I was admiring this cozy-looking house when suddenly my hay fever started to tackle my nose and eyes. I was so frightened;frightened of the thought that my sneeze would blow the straws off the house. I turned my head back, so the house would not get affected by my sneeze. It was a success! So I turned back to the house and reached my hands towards the door when suddenly... My hay fever started to grab me again. This time it was too late to turn my head back, and it just happened before a blink of an eye. There, I sneezed right in front of this pig’s house I didn’t even know. While I was sneezing, I was saying this poem that always came out of my mouth every time I sneezed. It was related to blowing a house, and this had been one of my school theme song that all of us had to sing every single day in elementary, middle, and high school. After all the straw blew off the house, leaving nothing but a pole, I was so shocked to see the poor pig clinging on to the pole. I felt so sorry to meet my neighbor like this; especially when he had moved in just a few hours ago. I was about to apologize just when this pig started running for his life, so fast that I thought some sort of brain shock had reached him. I was so frightened that he would jump in the pond that was just a few hundred meters away. Thinking that I had to save this poor little pig, I ran for my life as well, not knowing where I was going. It was very hard to run in my very fastest speed, as I had a massive basket full of hot cookies. Just then when the pig was visible in my eye, I saw him run like a mad cow to another house. I thought this was the other pig’s house. It was made of sticks- a lot of sticks. ‘Ah!’ I relieved a sigh, a sigh of happiness. Now I could see the two pigs at once! I was in my own world when suddenly I could sense a sneeze that was about to come with a few seconds. However this time, I was not very alarmed nor worried about the house getting blown away, since this house was made of strong-looking sticks. Maybe this was a mistake. After sneezing and repeating my chant-song thing, the whole house blew away. At first it did not, but on my second sneeze the whole sticks blew off. Now I felt really guilty. I didn’t know how I would make up for these people. None of you right now reading this would not know a feeling of a person who had destroyed two whole houses that was constructed just a few hours ago, just within less than 10 minutes. Tears rolled down my eyes, and I dropped my cookies. I was just staring at the two little pigs running away. They were scared of me, and they thought I had come to eat them. I felt terrible and I wanted to tell them and explain everything. So I picked up my basket and ran to the last house, which was probably the last of the three pigs’ house. I opened my jaws. This was one fantastic looking house. It was so well built! Thankfully by then, my hay fever had gone far far away. I knocked on the door, and called out to them. However, they would not open the door for me. ‘ Maybe they think I would eat them up’ I thought. I suddenly had a brilliant idea. I dressed up like a sheep, and changed my voice into a voice of a small, cute sheep. This was a mistake. They knew it was me, and so now this increased the thought that I had come to eat them. I was sighing, looking above the sky just when I saw a chimney. AHA! Without no second thought, I climbed up in my fastest speed and dropped down. I was about to hand my cookies just when I saw that I was sitting on a hot boiling pot. I screamed and cried of pain, and I went shooting above the sky. I fainted for a few days, and from then, I could not go back to their house. I wanted to apologize so badly, but I knew they would think I came to gobble them up. I had no choice but to just stay at home and away from them three pigs.
